Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat on Friday 1/11/2024 said the new energy strategy aims to scale up the contribution of renewables to the energy mix to 60 percent by 2040.
The recently-approved strategy focuses on increasing reliance on renewable energy sources, rationalizing the use of traditional energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels to cut carbon emissions and foster the transition to green economy, the minister added.
The minister made the remarks while he was reviewing a report on the Electricity Ministry’s action plan for raising the supply of electricity generated from renewables in the energy mix to 42 per cent by 2030 and the new energy strategy for 2040.
