A high-profile delegation headed by Egypt’s Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker left Cairo for Moscow on Sunday to resume negotiations over Russia’s construction of Egypt’s electricity-generating nuclear plant.
This is the first visit by an official Egyptian delegation to Russia for that purpose since both countries signed a deal for establishing the plant in Dabaa, west of Egypt, last November.
The first phase of the project is supposed to host four units worth US$10 billion. The whole undertaking is expected to be completed by 2022.
Russia is expected to finance 80 percent of the project.
