Minister of State for Parliamentary and Legal Affairs Moufeed Shehab said the parliamentary election will be held on the scheduled date despite court rulings canceling the election in some constituencies.
Administrative courts have canceled voting in 24 constituencies over legal and administrative violations.
Shehab, for his part, said the government is confident that “the correct legal procedures have been adopted”, affirming that the election will be conducted on Sunday as planned.
Administrative courts have halted the vote in 12 constituencies in the northern governorates of Kafr al-Sheikh and Qalyubiya, and in two constituencies in the Upper Egyptian governorates of Sohag and Assiut.
The elections in 10 constituencies in Alexandria were also canceled on Wednesday.
