Cairo police revealed the details behind a German tourist falling to his death from the 30th floor of a famous hotel in downtown Cairo.
The victim, 87 years old, lost his balance and fell from a great height.
The chief of the Bulaq Abul-Ela Police Station received a report on Friday from the management of a famous hotel stating that a guest had fallen from the 30th floor.
Authorities responded to the scene and, upon examination, found the body of a German man with multiple fractures and internal bleeding.
A report was filed, and the Public Prosecution was notified to begin investigations.
The Public Prosecution ordered the body transferred to the morgue for autopsy. The investigations department also requested that the necessary investigations be conducted to uncover the details and circumstances of the incident.
Details of the incident
Initial investigations confirmed that the tourist was a guest at the hotel.
While in his room on the 30th floor, he suffered a severe drop in blood circulation, which caused him to lose his balance and fall from the window where he died immediately.
Security forces listened to the testimonies of hotel staff, who confirmed that the guest had been staying at the hotel for a short time and had not exhibited any unusual behavior prior to the incident.
According to the initial investigation, there was no clear criminal suspicion in the incident.
The prosecution also requested a review of the hotel’s surveillance cameras and testimony from the hotel employees and victim’s colleagues, if any, to ensure there was no criminal suspicion in the incident and fully uncover the circumstances of the incident.
This comes as authorities continue the process of handing over the body to the German embassy in preparation for repatriation back to Germany.
