ElBaradei sworn in as vice-president

Egypt's leading liberal politician, Mohamed ElBaradei, has been sworn in as vice-president for international relations.

The Presidency said ElBaradei took charge as vice-president for international relations, not foreign affairs as was previously circulated by the media.

ElBaradei heads Egypt's Dostour Party and the National Salvation Front, an umbrella organization of liberal and leftist groups opposed to ousted President Mohamed Morsy.

The Nobel laureate formerly worked as chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

ElBaradei was one of the political figures Egypt's military held talks with over its proposed roadmap for the interim period following Morsy’s overthrow.
