George Ishaq, senior official of the National Association for Change formed by Mohamed ElBaradei, a potential candidate in next year’s presidential elections, said Elbaradei planned to kick off his campaign in the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
He said ElBaradei would hold a Ramadan banquet to which he planned to invite representatives of Egypt’s various political forces. ElBaradei then plans to meet with supporters to discuss the ongoing campaign aimed at collecting signatures in support of his candidacy.
“We have more than 250,000 signatures so far,” Ishaq said.
“ElBaradei will start campaigning in the southern governorates in September,” Ishaq added. “We will hang posters with our slogan, ‘Together We’ll Change,’ in all major governorates prior to his visit.”
