More than 750 lawyers joined would-be presidential contender Mohamed ElBaradei’s National Front for Change after the front opened a branch at the Egyptian Lawyers Syndicate.
Front members say they hope to collect signatures in support of ElBaradei’s seven demands for democratic reform and social justice.
According to front coordinator Ahmed Qenawy, a website devoted to the front’s syndicate branch will be launched imminently. “We aim to collect 100,000 signatures every month for ElBaradei’s ‘Together We Will Change’ campaign,” said Qenawy.
Pro-ElBaradei syndicate members are currently assembling a team of lawyers to defend political activists arrested during popular demonstrations.
