Co-founder of the Constitution Party Mohamed ElBaradei called for a meeting between President Mohamed Morsy, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces and representatives of Parliament to resolve a crisis that erupted after Morsy decreed to reinstate members of the dissolved Parliament.
ElBaradei posted on Twitter that the national consensus requires holding an immediate meeting among the president, Parliament’s representatives and the military council to reach a political and legal solution.
Morsy ordered on Sunday that Parliament reconvene until new parliamentary elections are held within the 60 days after the new constitution is drafted. The decision was made in spite of a ruling issued by Supreme Constitutional Court dissolving Parliament.
In a statement on Monday, the court said that its rulings are binding for all state authorities. The head of the Judges Club, Ahmed al-Zend, gave Morsy 36 hours to go back on his decision, or else judges would take legal action.
