Egypt’s Hedaya Wahba, a female taekwondo player on the national team, lost in the quarter-final match of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Wahba lost to Britain’s Lauren Williams, the third seed at the tournament level, 12-13.
Wahba is now waiting for the opportunity to compete for the bronze medal if Williams qualifies for the final round.
The Egyptian champion had defeated France’s Magda Kenin in the 16th of the 67-kg weight category, with a score of 11-10, to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Wahba won the bronze for taekwondo in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
This year’s Olympics are being hosted in the Japanese capital from July 23 to August 8.
