The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has shut down 25 hotels in the Red Sea, South Sinai and Cairo alongside 17 tourist restaurants in Cairo for one week, fining each establishment LE4,000.
The closures come to enforce the ministry’s rule against establishments that do not comply with the precautionary measures, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Abdel Fattah al-Assy said.
There is zero tolerance in applying these penalties in the event that hotel and tourist establishments violate the measures, he stressed, adding that the inspection committees of the Ministry of Tourism will continue to closely monitor for violations.
