Egyptian Supreme Judicial Council on Tuesday has chosen to resume judiciary work for the Court of Cassation, appeal courts and first instance and specialized courts starting Saturday, May 16.
These courts must abide by all coronavirus precautionary measures and follow Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly’s decrees.
The Egyptian government previously extended its nationwide curfew until Ramadan month’s end as part of precautionary measures to limit the coronavirus outbreak.
The hours of the curfew were also amended, and are now from nine pm until six am, part of an effort to reduce overcrowding in the hours before the curfew’s start time.
All measures regarding the closure of stores and courts, the suspension of air traffic, the continued closure of schools, and the reduction of employees in state-owned companies remained during this period.
Businesses are closed from five pm until six am during the week, and subjected to a complete closure on Fridays and Saturdays. All means of public and private transportation remained suspended during curfew hours.
The business closures did not include bakeries, pharmacies, grocery stores and supermarkets outside of shopping centers. Restaurants continued to be limited to delivery only.
Journalists and media workers, doctors, healthcare and emergency services workers are exempted from the curfew.
