Egypt’s support for South Africa’s ICJ case to give greater momentum to Palestinian cause: South African FM

Egypt’s announcement of its intention to join South Africa’s lawsuit before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) will give greater momentum to the Palestinian cause, said South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor.

In statements to AlQahera News on Monday, Pandor voiced hope to foster cooperation with Egypt to implement new and coordinated stances regarding the lawsuit filed against Israel before the ICJ.

She, meanwhile, hailed Egypt’s unwavering efforts to attain a ceasefire in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip.

The Israeli war against the Palestinian people, especially the women and children, is totally unacceptable, she said.

South Africa continues to exert strenuous efforts in order to implement all the decisions issued by the ICJ and the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding the war crimes committed against the Palestinians.

“We must ensure the implementation of the UNSC resolution on realizing a ceasefire in Gaza,” she said, affirming categorical rejection of Israeli violations against the Palestinians.

“We will continue our efforts to pile pressure on the UNSC in order to ensure attaining peace and stability in the world,” she added.
