Egypt's stock exchange will remain suspended on Sunday and Monday due to the unrest taking place in Egypt, Chairman of the Egyptian Stock Exchange Khaled Seyam announced Saturday.
Sayem said in a statement to the Middle East News Agency (MENA) that the decision came after holding a meeting with Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA) members and representatives for brokerage firms and investors' associations.
In light of day-to-day events a date for resumption of the stock market will be determined and announced 48 hours prior to opening, added Seyam, pointing out that this will be preceded by measures that aim to strengthen the performance of the stock market.
"We must guarantee full access to internet services and ensure the regularity of work in banks, which should start on Sunday," said Seyam.
