Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin held phone talks on Wednesday, discussing ways to enhance various strategies of cooperation, including resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
The two sides affirmed the strength of the historical and solid cooperation relations between Egypt and Russia in various fields.
Egypt’s presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said that the call dealt with discussions on the latest developments in the Russin-Ukrainian crisis.
Sisi stressed the need for dialogue to resolve the conflict, with Egypt’s support for all diplomatic endeavors that would help speed up the political settlement of the crisis in order to maintain international security and stability.
The Egyptian President also affirmed his country’s readiness to support this trend through its strenuous moves in this regard, bilaterally or at the multilateral level.
Egypt is closely following successive field developments, Sisi said, and its current top priority is the safety and security of Egyptian citizens in Ukraine.
He expressed his appreciation for the measures taken by the Russian side to facilitate the exit of Egyptian citizens, and looked forward to continuing to provide them with possible assistance to ensure their safety.
