Egypt’s prime minister, World Bank delegation discuss “Doing Business” index

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli received on Monday the World Bank (WB) delegation visiting Egypt for one week to evaluate the “Doing Business” index, specifically the Cross Border Trade Index.

During the meeting, Madbouli previewed governmental efforts to improve the Cross Border Trade Index and Contract Enforcement Index.

Madbouli asked the delegation to release the results of evaluations, including the results for the single-window system and the investor services center system and facilities evaluations at the visit’s end.

The 2019 Doing Business report indicated that Egypt jumped eight places to the 120th rank, which was the highest ranking since 2013, when Egypt ranked 12th in the Middle East and North Africa region after ranking 13th in the 2018 report.

The report pointed out that Egypt achieved significant progress in eight pillars including starting a business, obtaining building permits and electricity, registering property, obtaining credit, protecting minority investors in shares and paying taxes.
