Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Saturday stressed that the future of media poses a challenge for governments and media professionals.
In a televised speech during the “Future of Media in Egypt and the World” seminar, Madbouly noted that the astonishing development of communications and information technology has impacted media in a clear way, creating a new form of media different from what came before it.
The media is an industry of influence, he said, and this new form of media has only increased its power to influence minds.
No government in the world can work independently of the media, he said, adding that in this era where it has become easier than ever for the media to spread false news, the responsibility lies both on the citizen in sorting the information they receive and on media professionals in verifying facts.
Madbouly also praised press and media workers, stating that they do their best to receive and transfer information to people worldwide.
