Egypt’s new largest textile factory – A billion-dollar game-changer

Egypt has successfully completed construction of the world’s largest and most advanced spinning and weaving factory at the Misr Spinning and Weaving Company in Mahalla al-Kubra.

This state-of-the-art facility is poised to revolutionize the textile industry, generating an estimated one billion dollars annually in yarn exports while catering to the demands of domestic manufacturers.

The factory’s completion marks a significant milestone under a broader initiative to modernize and revitalize Egypt’s spinning and weaving sector, with an investment of approximately LE50 billion.

Installation of machinery has been finalized, and the factory is currently undergoing rigorous testing as a precursor to full-scale operations by the end of the year.

Minister of Public Business Sector Mohamed Shemi called on the holding company for spinning & weaving, the Mahalla company, and the project’s contracting company to expedite the finalization of all operational components.

He urged them to accelerate the timeline, maintain round-the-clock efforts, and conduct vigilant daily monitoring to face any challenges.

Shemi further emphasized the paramount importance of adhering to stringent occupational safety and health standards, as well as environmental regulations.
