Egypt’s Naval Forces will participate in a joint French-Egyptian navy training drill called “Cleopatra- Gapian 2019” in France on Monday, as part of efforts to enhance cooperation between the two nation’s naval forces.
Commander of Egypt’s Naval Forces Ahmed Khaled stated that the training would help the navy forces recognize different martial doctrines and deal with modern combat technologies.
Khaled pointed out that several students in the Military Naval College would participate in the training to improve maritime practical performance and increase their fighting experience.
Egyptian and French naval forces previously implemented a naval exercise at an Egyptian Red Sea naval base in December 2018 with the participation of the French warship “COURBET” and several Egyptian naval units.
The naval forces also implemented a scenario to counter threats against maritime security, including terrorist acts, protecting an important cargo ship and exercising the right of to visit and inspect suspicious ships.
