Egypt’s national football team prepares for friendly match against Tunisia

Egypt’s national football team continued training at the Cairo International Stadium for its coming friendly match against Tunisia on Tuesday at the Air Defense Stadium, as part of preparations for the Africa qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Led by Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria, twenty players participated in the training session: The captain of the team and top scorer for Liverpool Mohamed Salah, Mohamed Sobhy, Mohamed Abu Gabal, Ali Gabr, Omar Kamal, Ahmed Ramadan Beckham, Mahmoud Marei, Hossam Abdel Meguid, Ahmed Fattouh, Tariq Hamed, Wissam Morsi, Hamdi Fathi, Mahmoud Hamada, Ahmed Sayed Zizou, Mustafa Fathi, Omar Marmoush, Ibrahim Adel, Mostafa Mohamed, Mohamed Sherif, and Osama Faisal.

The training was attended by a member of the Egyptian Football Association’s Board of Directors and supervisor of the first team Hazem Emam, and the president of the United Sports Egypt company Mohamed Yahya Lotfy.

The Confederation of African Football on late August set the dates for the Egyptian national team’s matches in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The draw for the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup finals placed Egypt in Group A with five teams: Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia and Djibouti.

Up to 54 African teams are participating in the continent’s qualifiers for the World Cup 2026, all participating countries in the African Union divided into nine groups, with six teams in each group.
