Egypt’s Mubarak meets French FM

President Hosni Mubarak received on Saturday the French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Michèle Alliot-Marie, who is currently touring the region to discuss ways to revitalize the Middle East peace process.

Mubarak and Alliot-Marie discussed developments in the region, the means to resume the peace process, and the situations in Lebanon, Iraq and Sudan.

The meeting also examined ways to expand cooperation between Egypt and France in various fields and ways to activate the Union for the Mediterranean.

Also present at the meeting were Ahmed Abul Gheit, the Egyptian foreign minister; Patrice Paoli, director of the North Africa and Middle East desk at the French Foreign Ministry; and French Ambassador to Egypt Jean Félix-Paganon.
