Egypt’s Ministerial delegation ends visit to Germany discussing waste management

An Egyptian ministerial delegation including Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Sharawy, Minister of Defense Mohammed al-Assar and Minister of Environment Yasmen Fouad returned to Cairo on Friday following a five-day visit to Germany seeking to obtain knowledge on the global technological systems of waste management.

The delegation held meetings with Germany’s Minister of Environment and Nature Conservation Svenja Schulze, Minister of State for Economy and Energy Ulrich Nussbaum and several German companies. The meetings discussed waste recycling and production of compost, biogas and energy.

The Egyptian delegation said that the waste management’s system would contain five steps such as the establishment waste system infrastructure, the rehabilitation and upgrading of waste recycling plants, the addition of new lines and the continuation of repairing existing equipment.

The delegation added that the government would provide Egyptian factories with new equipment of waste management made in Berlin, Cologne and Wuppertal.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that his country is looking forward to benefiting from Germany’s experience in waste recycling, as Germany is one of the leading countries in the world in the field.

His statement came during a meeting on Friday between Madbouly and the Vice President of the Local Parliament of the State of Brandenburg Dieter Dombrowski, Managing Director of the Brandenburg Economic Development Corporation (WFBB) Sebastian Saule, and the head of the RKD waste recycling company Florian Duhr.
