Egypt’s Minister of Transportation visits stations for electric train project

Egypt’s Minister of Transportation Kamel al-Wazir on Saturday visited the fourth stage station for the electric train project connecting al-Salam, the New Administrative Capital and the tenth of Ramadan city.

Wazir rode a test train from al-Nozha station to Hisham Barakat, Omar bin al-Khattab, Qabaa, Haykestep and Adly Mansour, following up on implementation rates for each station.

He requested that construction work for the six stations and tests for the operation and control systems be finished as soon as possible, ahead of the stations opening on April 25.

Inspecting the electric train project, Wazir followed up on the implementation rates which reached 13 percent for the electric train project, 12 percent for bridge work, 14 percent for the underground work, 12 percent for the railroad bridge work, and seven percent for the maintenance workshops construction work.

Wazir said that this project will connect Cairo with the new urban cities, the New Administrative Capital and the industrial zones, increasing the population rates for the new urban cities.

The electric train project runs for 67.846 km, of which 61 km are surface tracks, 6.1 km over an upper bridge and 0.665 km in tunnels. The line includes 12 stations, six bridges, two train tunnels, and four car bridges in Haykestep and the entrances of al-Mostaqbal and al-Shrouk cities.
