Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khalid Anany on Monday warned hotels against violating guidelines laid out for the resumption of domestic tourism operations starting in mid-June.
Anany demanded that hotels adhere to all preventive measures in order to combat the coronavirus outbreak.
Egypt’s Chamber of Hotel Establishments recently set a number of guidelines that must be adhered to when operating hotels and tourist resorts amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Hotels and resorts will soon be allowed to operate at 25 percent of their full capacity, but will be required to take measures in order to assure the health and safety of their guests.
Anany visited several hotels and tourist villages to follow up on the preventive measures as hotels prepare to resume operations.
During a meeting with investors in Red Sea Governorate’s Sahl Hasheesh, Anany also called attention to the fact that the government has allocated LE three billion in loans to the country’s tourism sector to help pay wages and cover operations costs.
