Egyptian tennis champion Mayar Sherif won the Karlsruhe Open Tennis Championship in Germany, on Sunday, after defeating Italian Martina Trevisan two to zero in the final match (six-three, six-two).
Sherif won the semi-final match against Romanian Jacqueline Christian by two sets to one.
She qualified for the semi-finals after defeating the Slovak Rebecca Šramková in two sets without a response, while she qualified for the quarter-finals after overcoming the Polish Katarzyna Kawa in two sets without a response as well.
Sherif had won second place in the ITF W60 Women’s competition in Spain, after losing to Arantxa Rus, the Dutch first seed in the tournament zero-two in the final match.
She also made an unprecedented historical achievement, after she became the first Egyptian woman to qualify for two Grand Slam tournaments.
Sherif has won eight singles titles and six doubles titles in the various international tournaments she participated in.
