The Food Export Council (FEC) said on Wednesday that the food industry sector’s exports increased by 3% in the first two months of the current year to reach dlrs 665 million compared to dlrs 645 million during the same period in 2022.
According to a monthly report issued by the FEC, the January 2023 exports reached dlrs 330 million, with an increase of 8%, compared to the same period in 2022, as it stood at dlrs 306 million.
As for the value of exports in February 2023, it reached almost dlrs 335 million, with a decline of 0.1%, compared to dlrs 339 million during the same period in 2022, said the report.
The value of food industry exports to Arab countries reached dlrs 368 million in the first two months of 2023, with a 5% decline, representing 55% of the total food exports, the report added.
Saudi Arabia ranked first on the list of importers of food from Egypt in 2023, for its total imports amounted to dlrs 69 million with an increase of 13%, it said.
