The Presidential Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs Mohamed Awad Tag-Eddin said that the epidemiological situation of coronavirus in Egypt this month is much better than last month.
During a telephone interview with the privately-owned al-Hadath al-Youm channel, Tag-Eddin noted that there is a noticeable decrease in the number of cases, both in official and unofficial figures.
Egypt is much better than most countries regarding its epidemiological situation, and the Omicron mutant is less ferocious than other mutagens, he assured.
He added that the number of coronavirus cases admitted to hospitals has become fewer alongside those in intensive care.
The Head of the Scientific Committee to Combat Coronavirus at Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population anticipated the end of the country’s fourth wave of coronavirus infections if the number of cases continues to decline at the current level by the end of the week.
Hossam Hosni said earlier in February that the infection and death rates with the virus continued to decline during the past days, but stressed the need to continue taking precautionary measures to keep the decrease.
Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population on Monday reported 1,523 new coronavirus cases, 34 deaths, and 1,321 recoveries.
A total of 483,771 cases have been reported in Egypt, with 24,074 deaths and 413,482 recoveries.
An official report from the Health Ministry stated by the end of December that Egypt has so far received 119.3 million doses of various coronavirus vaccines.
Vaccinations with the third booster dose began on December 21 in Egypt.
Egypt was able in a short time to provide all coronavirus vaccines, including Sinovac, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Sputnik, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Moderna, as part of the state’s plan to diversify and expand the provision of coronavirus vaccines.
The Ministry of Health and Population called on citizens to register on the ministry’s website to receive the vaccine, stressing that the state spares no effort in providing vaccines to citizens for free, through permanent cooperation with international organizations and bodies.
