The Coptic Orthodox Church in Egypt announced in a statement that it will limit all Christmas celebrations due to the ongoing coronavirus and its new variants.
“Due to the continued spread of the new coronavirus with its new mutations, we in the Coptic Church will limit the celebration to the prayers of the Divine Liturgy on Christmas Eve at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital”, it reads.
The church apologized for not receiving well-wishers on the morning of Christmas.
Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population on Tuesday reported 809 new coronavirus cases, 28 deaths, and 711 recoveries.
A total of 383,003 cases have been reported in Egypt, with 216,67 deaths and 318,456 recoveries.
