Egypt’s annual core inflation rate rises to 25.1% by end of August

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced an increase in the annual core inflation rate to reach 25.1 percent in August compared to 24.4 percent in July.

The CBE added in a report that the core consumer price index recorded a monthly change rate of 0.9 percent in August 2024 compared to 0.3 percent in August 2023 and minus 0.5 percent in July 2024.

The monthly rate of change in the general urban consumer price index, announced by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics on September 10, recorded 2.1 percent in August 2024 compared to 1.6 percent in August 2023 and 0.4 percent in July 2024.

On an annual basis, the general urban inflation rate recorded 26.2 percent in August 2024 compared to 25.7 percent in July 2024.
