The Agriculture Export Council said on Sunday that Egypt’s exports of agricultural crops increased the September 2021 to June 2022 export season to reach $2.47 billion, compared to $ 2.217 billion during the same period for the 2020-2021 season, at a rate of 11.4 percent.
In its monthly report, the council indicated that the exported quantities decreased slightly by 0.4 percent during the 10 months of the current export season (2021-2022) to reach 3.957 million tons, compared to 3.974 million tons during the same period of the last season.
The report said that the Arab countries accounted for 36 percent of the value of Egypt’s exports of agricultural crops during the first 10 months of the 2021-2022 season by about $879 million, as well as 42 percent of the total volume of exports by about 1.651 million tons.
Successful international exports
The exported quantities of Egyptian agricultural crops to European countries outside the European Union amounted to about 1.061 million tons, at a value of $655 million, accounting for 27 percent of the total value of exports and 27 percent of the quantities.
The value of Egyptian agricultural crops exports to the European Union countries amounted to about $566 million through the export of 726,000 tons, accounting for 18 percent of the total exported quantities and 23 percent of the value of exports.
The value of agricultural crops exports to Asian countries amounted to about $299 million from September 2021 to June 2022 through the export of 439,000 tons, and for the Americas and Australia about 32,000 tons at a value of $38 million.
The report revealed that 1.622 million tons of citrus were exported during the aforementioned period, at a value of $ 805 million, with citrus exports accounting for 41 percent of the exported quantities of agricultural crops during the first 10 months of the export season 2021-2022 and 33 percent of the total value of the sector’s exports.
Fresh potato exports accounted for 21 percent of the total quantities of Egyptian agricultural crops exported by about 842,000 tons, and 14 percent of the total value of the sector’s exports by about $ 355 million.
The report indicated that the Russian Federation is the largest importer of Egyptian agricultural crops with about 785,000 tons, valued at $ 405 million, accounting for 20 percent of the total exported quantities and 16 percent of the value.
Saudi Arabia imported 15 percent of the total Egyptian agricultural crops exports during the first 10 months of the export season 2021-2022 by about 577,000 tons, as well as 12 percent of the value by about $ 285 million.
Agricultural crops exports to the UAE recorded about 277,000 tons, worth $ 115 million, to the Netherlands about 243,000 tons, worth $ 166 million, accounting for 6 percent of the exported quantities and 7 percent of the value.
