The fourth wave of COVID-19 is rapidly spreading, affecting the younger age groups and children, Megahed warned, and called on citizens to continue calmly following precautionary measures, Health Ministry Spokesperson Khaled Megahed said.
During a phone call with the Tahrir Hall program on the Sada al-Balad channel, Megahed added that the fourth wave of the coronavirus started in Egypt at the beginning of September, but assured that the rate of infections and deaths in Egypt is not as high as in other countries or during previous waves.

“Since the beginning of the fourth wave, there has been a rapid spread, with milder symptoms,” he continued, stressing that mild and moderate cases are isolated at home, and only some specific cases that require special care are hospitalized.
He stated that Egypt recorded its “Delta+” variant infections in July in a 35-year-old woman, and assured that her condition did not require hospitalization and she recovered.
