Egyptians stranded in Tunis ask for help

Scores of Egyptians stranded in Cartage Airport in Tunis called on the foreign ministry to help them fly home after airlines canceled their bookings.

While they said the Egyptian embassy has ignored them, the embassy officials claimed that the embassy has been continuously following up.

Despite bad weather conditions, an EgyptAir plane left for Tunis on Monday to bring the stranded Egyptians back.

“We have been stranded here since Friday,” said Amr Ismail. “All other countries sent planes to take home their nationals.”

Egyptian ambassador Ahmed Ismail said there were 50 Egyptians stranded in the airport. “We tried to arrange for another flight for them on Sunday but that flight was canceled, too,” he said.
