Egyptian authorities on Monday foiled an attempt by 45 Egyptians from the Delta area to illegally immigrate to Italy by sailing across the Mediterranean.
The immigrants set sail from the coast of Ezbet al-Borg town in the Damietta Governorate, said sources.
Police seized the boat and arrested the immigrants on board. A report of the incident was filed, the sources said, and the detainees were referred to the prosecution for investigation.
