Egyptians Nour Al-Sherbini, Amina Orfi, and Karim Abdel Gawad have successfully qualified for the semi-finals of the US Open Squash Championship scheduled for Friday, October 24.
The tournament is currently being hosted in Philadelphia, USA, from October 19 to 26, with a total prize purse of $100,000 each for the men’s and women’s draws.
In the men’s draw, Abdel Gawad secured a hard-fought victory over Mohamed Zakaria with a 3-2 scoreline. The game scores were: 14-12, 11-7, 3-11, 7-11, 11-5.
In the women’s matches, Orfi defeated Belgium’s Tinne Gilis in straight games, 3-0. The game scores were: 11-5, 11-9, 11-6.
Meanwhile, reigning World Champion Al-Sherbini sailed past America’s Amanda Sobhy with a comfortable 3-0victory. Her game scores were: 11-5, 11-3, 11-4.
