Chairman of the Egyptian Stock Exchange Khaled Seyam said on Monday that the Egyptian bourse will resume trading next Sunday.
The bourse had been closed since 2 February due to the the wave of ongoing protests that started 14 days ago calling on President Hosni Mubarak to resign.
State news agency MENA cited Seyam as saying the decision came after discussions with the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority, Misr for Central Clearing and Depository & Registry, as well as other companies and investment associations.
It has been agreed that some exceptional procedures will be taken when trading resumes, with the aim of balancing the stockmarket, according to Seyam.
Seyam added he will hold a press conference on Wednesday to announce all the details. Representatives of member companies and financial institutions will also attend.
