Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed with his Somali counterpart Ahmed Moallim Fiqi the different aspects of the Egyptian-Somali relations and means to boost them in numerous domains.
Both ministers tackled cooperation programs between Egypt and Somalia in the various areas, including training, aviation, health, education and culture.
They expressed happiness over announcing plans to inaugurate a direct air route between the two countries in July in addition to opening a branch of Banque Misr in Somalia.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said that the meeting tackled the situation in the Horn of Africa, adding that both ministers consulted and coordinated on the latest developments in this respect and asserted their keenness on supporting stability and peace in addition to avoiding the sources of tension and destabilization in the area.
At the end of their meeting, they asserted keenness on further advancing the special Egyptian-Somali relationship.
