Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population announced that the Chairman of the National Committee for the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health, Hisham al-Ghazaly, won the membership of the Scientific Council of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) during the meeting of the agency’s Board of Directors at its headquarters in the French city of Lyon.
IARC Director Elisabete Weiderpass congratulated Ghazaly on his election as a member of the Agency’s Scientific Council, expressing her appreciation for his role in helping combat cancer, and her confidence in his ability to support the Agency’s global efforts.
Ghazaly chairs the National Committee for the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health, and is a professor of oncology, director of the Research Center at Ain Shams University, and a major participant in the Global Initiative to Eliminate Breast Cancer of the World Health Organization.
