Egyptian President Sisi arrives in China for a 4-day visit

 

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi arrived in Beijing on Saturday for a four-day visit, during which he will hold important talks with senior Chinese officials and attend the summit of the China–Africa Cooperation forum, which will be held on September 3 and 4.

Sisi’s delegation consists of: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Head of the General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel, presidential chief of staff Mostafa Sherif, Director of the Office of the President Mohsen Abdel Nabi, and presidential spokesperson Bassam Radi.

The visit will include a meeting between President Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to discuss joint cooperation and strategic partnership between China and Egypt. Sisi will also meet the Chinese Premier during the visit, and will also meet with representatives of major Chinese companies to discuss mutual cooperation and ways to increase their investment in Egypt.

A reception ceremony will be held for President Sisi at the People’s Hall, followed by bilateral talks between Sisi and Xi Jinping on ways to enhance bilateral relations in all fields and issues of common concern.

The signing ceremony for a number of joint cooperation agreements between Egypt and China will be followed by a dinner in honor of President Sisi.

Sisi has visited China four times since he took office.

The first was in December 2014, after his election as president. The second came in September 2015, where Sisi paid a visit to Beijing to participate in the celebration of China National Day of Victory and the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The third visit was in September 2016, when he visited China to participate as a special guest at the G20 summit. The fourth was in September 2017 at the invitation of the Chinese president to participate in the strategic dialogue on emerging markets and developing countries.
