Egyptian Police arrest TikTok star Hader al-Hady for inappropriate videos

Egyptian police in the Giza Security Directorate arrested social media influencer Hader al-Hady on Sunday over charges of publishing indecent content and videos on the TikTok video platform.

Police referred the case to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.

In related news, the office of the Kafr Shokr Public Prosecution in Qalyoubia governorate detained the family of TikTok performer Manar Sami for four days pending investigation.

The father and brothers of Sami assaulted the police at the court while Sami was attending a session to remand her in custody over charges of publishing indecent content and videos on the TikTok video platform.

Sami received 15 additional days detention, pending investigation. She has been admitted to Qaha prison for the time of her detention.

The arrests of Sami and al-Hady come as part of a crackdown by the Ministry of Interior on influencers who publish or share “inappropriate” videos on social media.

The Public Prosecution also detained social media star Mawada Eladhm in May over charges of promoting immorality, following two recent similar cases against bellydancer Sama al-Masry and student Haneen Hossam.

The Public Prosecution said in a statement that it ordered the detention of Eladhm for four days pending investigations.

She was accused of establishing and managing accounts on social media that aim to promote acts which violate the “family principles and values of Egyptian society.”
