Egyptian play ‘Charlie – The Universal Citizen’ to receive book adaptation in 4 languages

Scriptwriter Medhat al-Adl has discussed the work he has done to convert his play “Charlie – The Universal Citizen” play into a book, following its success in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

The Cairo 24 news website reported Adl as saying that an agreement was reached with the Aseer al-Kotob (Book Juice) publishing house to publish the book.

Adl added that the book will be translated into four languages: English, French, German and Greek.

The play is a Broadway-style lyrical musical show that tells its story though song and dance, and received praise from audience and critics alike.

 

The tale of Charlie Chaplin

The play is directed by Ahmed al-Bohy, written by Medhat al-Adl, and stars Mohamed Fahim who portrays Charlie Chaplin.

Bohy says the play presents the life story of Charlie Chaplin, his influence on the film industry, and his journey in the field of cinema over the years.

The play also stars Ayman al-Shewy, Nour Qadri, Dalia al-Gendy, with music composed by Ehab Abdel-Wahed, arranged by Nader Hamdy, performance design by Amr Patrick, clothes by Reem al-Adl, decor by Hazem Shel, accessories by Mohamed Saad.

It has been shown in Saudi Arabia and Egypt multiple times to critical acclaim.
