Egyptian wrestler Mohamed Ibrahim Kishto who won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, is accused of sexual harassment. The allegations surfaced following reports of his arrest for public intoxication and harassing a woman early this morning, according to the French daily newspaper Le Parisien.
In response to the growing controversy, the Egyptian Olympic Committee has initiated an investigation into Kisho’s behavior. The committee has tasked a special panel with examining the allegations and determining appropriate disciplinary action. The investigation will commence upon the wrestler’s return to Egypt from the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Furthermore, the Olympic Committee has ordered an inquiry into Kisho’s unauthorized absence from the Olympic village. The head of the wrestling federation has confirmed that the athlete left the premises with permission to watch a wrestling match, but failed to return and has been unreachable.
If found guilty of the accusations, Kisho faces severe penalties, including a lifetime ban from wrestling both domestically and internationally. The Olympic Committee has vowed to take strict action against any individual involved in the incident, including members of the wrestling delegation who may have contributed to the situation.
