Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea and Tourism Minister Khaled al-Anany met to discuss the final preparations for Egypt’s exhibit at Dubai Expo 2020.
The expo will be hosted by the UAE for a period of six months, starting from October, an official statement announced on August 16.
The ministers’ meeting was attended by the head of Egypt’s delegation at the expo Ahmed Maghawry, alongside officials from both ministries and the company responsible for Egypt’s exhibit.
During the meeting, Anany stressed his ministry’s keenness to assist the Egyptian delegation, calling the event one of the most important global tourism destinations.
The event is an opportunity for Egypt to showcase its archaeological heritage sites to the world, in hopes of attracting more tourists to visit.
Anany added that coordination is underway between the two ministries to select specific content for Egypt’s pavilion, including films, advertisements, and drawings.
The pavilion will be decorated with ancient Egyptian symbols, colors, and designs to encapsulate Egypt’s historical identity, and a coffin discovered in Saqqara will be brought for display.
Gamea announced during the meeting that all preparations will be completed by Thursday. She also noted the government’s strong interest in the event, which is being held for the first time in an Arab country.
The event will also serve as an opportunity to stoke interest from investors in Egypt, Gamea added.
The Egyptian pavilion will hold 103 events throughout the expo, including workshops, discussions, business meetings, and cultural salons to discuss topics such as urban development, tourism, sustainable development, health, agriculture, living standards, women, and youth.
Furthermore, there will be nine specialized exhibitions on antiquities, education, real estate investment, and heritage, as well as recreational and cultural events to attract the largest possible audience.
Maghawry added that his team hopes to coordinate a number of visits from prominent Egyptian figures in science, art, culture, and sports to represent the country.
The expo is predicted to bring 25 million visitors from about 192 countries, and officials are predicting at least 2.5 million of them will visit Egypt’s pavilion.
