All Middle Eastern governments know they face a major challenge, Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohamed Rachid said on Sunday on Egyptian Television, in reference to economic crises and high prices in many countries in the Arab world.
Protests over high prices in Tunisia over the past four weeks led to the ousting of President Zine al-Abedine Ben Ali who ruled the country for 23 years.
Jordan, Libya and Morocco have seen similar protests against high prices, especially for food.
Rachid said the economic integrity of Arab countries is an important part of addressing the current economic problems suffered by the Arab world.
Economic cooperation between Arab countries helps to overcome those challenges through the creation of investment opportunities and the opening of joint Arab markets, he added.
