Egypt's military has foiled a car bomb attack on security forces in North Sinai, according to an Armed Forces statement on Tuesday.
Units from the 2nd Field Army has prevented terrorists from detonating a jeep loaded with huge amounts of explosives, in an attack that would have targeted security forces.
During a raid, soldiers destroyed the jeep, which was packed with eight bombs, and which also contained an explosive suicide belt.
The troops also found two rooms used as hideouts by extremists, with military uniforms and ammunition found inside.
Meanwhile, military engineers defused seven roadside bombs planted in Arish, Rafah and Sheikh Zuwaid, along roads where security personnel pass.
The statement added that security personnel are seeking to take full control of the North Sinai, elminating all terrorist forces in the area.
