Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty made a phone call with Mexico’s Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente on developments of the shooting incident that left three Egyptian nationals dead in Mexico.
The Mexican foreign secretary expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the Egyptian government and families of the victims, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said on Tuesday 8-10-2024.
The investigations are still conducted and the Egyptian government will be notified about the outcomes, once they are completed, the top Mexican diplomat added.
Abdelatty called on the Mexican government to expedite the finalization of investigations and relevant measures, in order to carry back home the bodies of the victims and provide medical care for those injured, the spokesman said.
The foreign minister added that directives were issued to the Egyptian ambassador in Mexico to travel to the city, which is located 850 kilometers away from the Mexican capital, to follow up on the situation and finalize the transfer of bodies along with assessing needs of the injured nationals.
The phone call tackled Egyptian-Mexican relations, with Abdelatty highlighting the importance of advancing trade relations and investments between the two countries.
