The Egyptian Authority for Meteorology on Sunday announced that temperature will rise gradually as of Monday to reach a high of 16 degrees Celsius in the morning and a low of 7 degrees at night.
The cold wave that hit various Egyptian cities on Saturday caused the closure of several Egyptian ports, and halted navigation in the Suez Canal. Tourism, trade and traffic were also affected, as the temperature dropped to 13 degrees in the morning and 7 degrees at night.
“The temperature on Tuesday will be 18 degrees Celsius during daytime and 9 degrees at night,” said authority chief Mohamed Eissa. “And on Wednesday, it will be 21 degrees in the day and 11 degrees during the night.”
He also said that the dust storm would continue until Tuesday.
“Climate change is not the reason for this weather," he said. “It is normal at this time of the year.”
Magdy Abdel Wahab, head of the meteorology department of Cairo University, said there would be more cold waves until the end of the winter season in February.
