Egyptian Medical Syndicate to investigate viral video of alleged doctors claiming to harass female patients

The Egyptian Medical Syndicate has announced the launch of a comprehensive investigation into a viral video which has incited outrage featuring a group of men claiming to be doctors who discussed harassing female patients.

The video shows the men using vulgar and obscene language towards women in public and engaging in conversations that include allegations of harassing their patients, according to the RT Arabia website.

In a statement, the General Syndicate of Egyptian Physicians said that if it is proven that they are indeed doctors, they will be immediately summoned for questioning before the Syndicate’s Ethics Committee, and all legal measures will be taken against them.

The statement added that the Syndicate’s chairman, Osama Abdel Hay, has contacted the Dental Syndicate regarding the allegations against one of the men in the video claiming to be a dentist in order to verify the incident and take the necessary legal action.

The Syndicate emphasized that the Code of Medical Ethics stipulates that doctors must be trustworthy role models in society and ensure citizens’ right to proper healthcare. They must be free from exploitation in all its forms towards their patients, colleagues, or students.

They must also be committed to honesty and accuracy in all their actions, and adhere to good conduct while preserving their dignity and that of the profession, as stated in the Physicians’ Oath and the Code of Medical Ethics.

The Syndicate affirmed that it will deal decisively with any violations committed by its members.

Any doctor who violates the rules of the Code of Medical Ethics and the established medical principles will be referred to the investigation committee and the disciplinary board to determine the appropriate penalty, which may include being struck off the medical register, thereby preventing them from practicing medicine.
