The Egyptian handball team achieved its second victory at the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday, defeating Japan with a score of 33-29.
The Egyptian team excelled from the beginning of the match until its end, demonstrating tight control over the Japanese team, as the Pharaohs finished the first half with a score of 18-11.
In the second half, the team continued its superiority over its opponents, thanks to the brilliance of its players, most notably Yehia Khaled and Ahmed al-Ahmar, who scored 8 points.
The match ended with Egypt’s victory over Japan inching the Egyptian national team closer to reaching the quarter-finals.
The team previously defeated Portugal 37-31, before losing in their second game to Denmark 27-32.
The victory against Japan raises Egypt’s tally to 4 points in third place in Group Two, two points behind Denmark and Sweden, who sit at first and second, while Japan remains in sixth and last place without points.
Egypt will meet Sweden on Friday in the next round, while Japan will play against Bahrain.
