Egyptian government allows adopted children to be added to ration cards

The Ministry of Supply and Domestic Trade has now allowed adopted children to be added to their adoptive family’s ration cards, so long as the family card meets all the requirements.

The ministry’s decision, No. 25 of 2018, comes after a large number of suggestions by adoptive families wishing to add their adopted children to ration cards.

The process requires the proper paperwork, such as an adoption contract authorized by government social services offices, the child’s birth certificate, the social security number of the adopted family, a photocopy of the parent’s national ID and ration card.

Earlier in July the cabinet approved a decision to add children that are not yet included to the ration cards, as part of government efforts to increase the value of subsidies for it’s citizens.
