Egypt harshly condemned statements made by Israel calling for the establishment of a Palestinian state on Saudi Arabia’s territory.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that this is direct violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a blatant breach of the rules of international law and the United Nations Charter.
Egypt stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security and sovereignty are a ‘red line’ that Egypt will not allow to be violated, and its stability and national security are at the core of the security and stability of the Arab world, and there will be compromise regarding it.
Egypt affirmed its full support for Saudi Arabia against these reckless and unbridled statements, and called on the international community to condemn and denounce them completely.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said during a phone call with his Portuguese counterpart, Paulo Ranger, that plans for the future of Gaza must come the unity of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and include the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza.
Abdelatty stressed that that the Palestinian population remaining in Gaza must remain there for the early recovery and reconstruction phase.
He also called for the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate rights, especially their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the June 4, 1967 Lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Political scientists criticize Israel
Political experts and political science professors criticized the statements of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state on Saudi Arabian land.
They claimed it marks a violation of the Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, and would threaten to undermine the peace process and abort the ceasefire agreement.
Professor of Political Science Tarek Fahmy, said that Saudi Arabia is the grand prize for the US and Israel, through the idea of normalization and establishing regional cooperation projects that they are promoting.
“We expect more clashes,” he said.
Another Professor of Political Science, Reda Farhat, said that Israel’s statements are a blatant violation of Saudi Arabia’s national sovereignty, and serve as yet another attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
