Egyptian football team to face off against Morocco in Paris Olympics

The Egyptian Olympic football team will face its Moroccan counterpart in the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday, six pm Cairo time in the bronze medal match at Labeaujoire Stadium in Nantes.

The 33rd edition of the Olympic Games kicked off on July 26 and will end on August 11.

The Egyptian Olympic team lost the semi-final to its French counterpart on Monday evening, by three goals to one, in the men’s football competitions.

The Parc Olympique Lyonnais stadium hosted the match between Egypt and France in the semi-finals.

Mahmoud Saber scored Egypt’s goal in the 62nd minute, while Jean-Philippe Mateta equalized for Les Bleus in the 83rd minute, forcing the two teams to go into extra time.

Defender Omar Fayed received a red card in the 92nd minute, forcing the Pharaohs to complete the match with 10 players.

Mateta scored the winning goal for the French team in the 99th minute and Michael Olise concluded France’s goals in the 109th minute.

The Moroccan Olympic team lost to Spain on Monday evening, with two goals to one, to qualify La Roja for the final.

The Groupama stadium hosted the match between Morocco and Spain in the semi-finals.

Soufiane Rahimi scored the first goal for the Moroccan team in the 37th minute from the penalty spot, and Fermin Lopez equalized the score in the 65th minute.

Juanlu snatched the winning goal for the Spanish national team in the 85th minute of the match.

With this result, the Spanish and French national teams qualified for the final of the Paris Olympics football tournament.
